textiles

The Textiles Research Hub operates as a forum for research and textile-related discussions and events.

Its principle activities centre around the Textiles and Fashion research group which runs monthly seminars during the Australian academic semester. This group also work together on research projects of mutual interest. In addition, the Textiles Research Hub provides a forum for a series of blog-style articles or ‘Musings’ on fashion and textile-related themes.

textiles and fashion research group

Centred in the Discipline of History at the University of Melbourne, the Textiles and Fashion Research Group (formerly the Textiles Reading Group) has a diverse membership including curators, textile experts, doctoral candidates, and engaged members of the public. Founded by Antonia Finnane at the University of Melbourne, and convened by Jenny-Lynn Potter of the Australian Catholic University, the group meets once a month during semester. Originally conceived as an informal gathering with a monthly focused reading programme, from mid 2020 the textiles reading group has gathered more formally with a Seminar Programme usually held online.

For all enquiries about meetings and related activities, contact Jenny-Lynn Potter.
